Never a dull day here in the North East

With the launch of the revamped events-led website for visitTeesvalley and the bid website for Durham City of Culture, residents from in and around the region have absolutely no excuse to sit at home and twiddle their thumbs.

Calm Asylum has been lucky enough to be involved in the design and development both of these landmark websites that are jam-packed with opportunities to get out and about and explore what's on across the North East.

www.visitteesvalley.co.uk is the realisation of the Area Tourism Partnership's strategy to market the Tees Valley as an events-led destination. The launch of the website coincided with the Do Something Different campaign - you may have seen the big red converse boot out and about. Oh and if you're looking for more fun and games, visit Tees Valley 24-7 for a calendar view of what's on every single day!

Meanwhile further north, Durham has launched its bid to be the very first UK City of Culture with www.durhamcityofculture.co.uk. The website showcases Durham's cultural talent and diversity. Find out what's going on across the whole county - in museums and galleries, in theatres and open spaces, in local communities and schools and get involved!

Daniel and Danielle

Although it isn't mandatory for your name to be a derivative of Daniel to work at Calm, it must certainly help.

Daniel Askwith came to us to support the development team with HTML mark up in CSS, and PHP. Since he joined Calm, Dan has been instrumental in developing some major regional projects, most recently Durham City of Culture, Face of Tees Valley and www.visitteesvalley.co.uk. Dan has also seen the launch of several corporate websites as well as sites that support the charities Ultimate Parent Participation and the Butterwick Hospice.

Danielle Bloom is Calm's newest recruit, brought it to support the studio with design using the full CS4 suite. Danielle has a BA in Design from the University of Teesside, which has recently been awarded University of the Year at the prestigious Times Higher Education awards. Danielle was literally thrown in the deep end here at Calm, designing seven websites in her first three weeks! Watch this space to see her designs brought to life for Faris, The Main Project's Online Bookstore and Enterprise Hub, Bell Trucks, Icon Plastics, Acrol Air Conditioning and Entertainment Leisure Finder.
